Hey guys! Been a long time since an update so decided to get one up.

Last week end, we attended Momo-Con in Atlanta, GA and Captain's Comic Expo in Charleston, SC. We had an awesome time and sold a lot of our 'Comicle' which I am currently unaware if we are selling online but we'll post it if we do. Thanks to everyone that helped support us and on behalf of those that went to Captian's, thanks to Steve Stegelin and Jeremy Dale who were amazing neighbors and just really sweet guys. I did not attend Momo-Con so I can't throw out some shout-outs so if you were awesome, thanks!

The "Comicle" coming in March!

The "Comicle" is off to the printers and will be available in March! It is a compilation of comics and concept art done by all the Monocles. Check back for more info soon and don't forget to pick up your copy once it becomes available.

Decided to update after a very nice long pause in our posts. We're all still here, I promise.

We're working on putting together our compilation book that we'll be selling at Momocon in GA and a mysterious Captain's Comic con in North(?) Carolina (apparently it exists but I can not find it on ConventionScene to save my life.). Both of those will be the weekend of March 19th through the 21st, roughly. The compilation will also be on sale online along with the 'Laluelle:Envisioned' comic. We'll post the link for those when we have them.

Laluelle: Envisioned is still running late. We found some problems in our test print but they have been fixed so hopefully it'll go to you guys soon! The test print does look good though, aside from me being nit-picky and a perfectionist. Also, on the topic of Laluelle...I had taken a break for a while because there was a issue with the script I was drawing from. It was unedited and the editted scripts was MIA. We got the edits back so hopefully I can finish up page 9 and get started on page 10 tonight.

Also, I have been internally debating starting up one of my own personal projects. I may or may not start looking for artists soon. Hopefully, we'll set up something to start taking submissions so I can find someone to draw me some kick ass zombies.

Hey!

So, we haven't updated in a bit but we as Monocle have been doing A LOT of behind the scenes stuff that you will be seeing soon. Comics, websites, and other stuff. But! To let everyone who wanted Laluelle:Envisioned know, we had some printing issues, and now the comic is being shipped this week. Once I review it, the link to purchase it will be up! So, the comic should be out this week! GASP!

Look forward to it and stop being evil and start dressin' nice!

Wow, so It's been awhile since I posted and no I'm not dead in case someone was thinking that.

I had a pretty tough time getting out of an art slump but I finally did, an ever since I have been working pretty hard on getting my "Messenger story off the ground. I can't show everything I have yet (due to lack of scanner) but I do have a preview.

SO I hope you guys are looking forward to the rest because if your aren't...than what the hell am I working for ;P

This is for a comic I'm actually doing for a friend and client of mine. The premise is pretty insane. Basically this fat lonely guy that no one likes runs into the devil and sells his soul for super powers. The deal is that he will get a small power and as his fame (or infamy) grows, the devil will grant him better powers for the more devotion he develops. The devil gives him pretty shoddy powers to start off with that are nearly useless and often times grotesque. I wont ruin his first super power, but this scene is from a bank robbery that he "stops" in the first issue. Not sure if I'm going to do it in color yet, still playing around with that. I'm going to try and have this thing done by mid February so wish me luck!

This was a half hour figure that I decided to do in sharpie and stretch my graphic ability a bit. And right under my teacher's nose...
The color is C.M.Y. acrylics that I watered down. I wanted it to look like a graphic piece but I painted it more classically. I used printing colors to throw back to the first idea though.

I'd love to do comics like this. Especially this large. On 18X24 80lb press paper.

Addie (Mersia) here again. :)

First I'm putting up the character designs for Symphony, written by the most awesome David. Symphony is basically putting Mozart and Ludwig von Beethoven in a modern day situation where they are battling each other for musical supremacy in their high school.
Here, you can see my character design for Mozart on the left and Beethoven on the right.

I'm going to be working on more character designs, this time in color, including more facial expressions.
On to BANE...
BANE was conceived when I was in highschool and it has been developing in my mind ever since. If you see the last post I put up you can see page one of BANE. This time I'm including some lighter material. Don't get used to it. BANE is going to mostly be a dark story with small glimmers of hope scattered through out.
My idea for BANE is based in the future when there are beings created that are biological robots. They are alive but have no emotions or feeling and this is the excuse used to enslave them. Our main character, Eve, discovers a being that has woken up... and has emotion. This leads to a larger question and a search for the origin of the BANE units.

Eve isn't very good with names, her father (owner of the BANE corporation that produces the units) allows her to keep it in their house as a pet. She names him Bane. No creativity, the poor girl.
Sorry everything is in black an white, these are all images from my sketchbook. I promise lots of colour and amazingness next time. Hope this is enough to tempt you for now...

A Masters In Reverse Psychology

I made a lithograph illustrating the characters the way I see them from the concept album "Who Will Survive and What Will Be Left of Them" by Murder By Death.

On Monday I decided to water color it. I guess I like the way it came out. I don't normally make fan art, but I've been listening to this album like non-stop for the past month or so and it's so damn good.

Symphony and Stockholm

Hey! So, Addie and I have been working on comic created by her and the first script was just finished! Whoo! It's called Symphony and it's about Mozart and Beethoven living in our time re-envisioned as high school students. Maybe a preview of the script will be up soon, I don't know, I just write lol. I'm working on a few other scripts as well right now and will probably get a bunch of it done in the near future. I know that soon I'll put up a sample script of something for you all to download and read. Real quick description of one of my original ideas that I am working on.

Stockholm:
It's about a kid, Damien, who gets kidnapped when he was about two years old. His kidnapper keeps him locked away for his own reasons, but does give him some comics to pass the time (see...he's a nice kidnapper lol). Flash-forward 14 years to when the kid is 16, he isn't exactly normal. He becomes dangerously attached to his kidnapper (hence the name stockholm) and all the comics he has read during the years he sees them as almost real and sets out to be a superhero, more like a vigilante, himself. When his kidnapper finally decides to come clean and tell him that he was kidnapped and that he was going to turn himself in, Damien snaps, and refuses to believe that the kidnapper is anything but his father. When the kidnapper tries to leave and turn himself in, Damien knocks the kidnapper out and chains him up. Damien wants to prove that he loves the kidnapper like a father and tells him, that he will let him go after Damien truly makes him happy as to prove his point of loving him. The kidnapper tells him of all the people that have wronged him, and who made him the way he is. Damien sets out to kill those people. With each kill he begins to learn a little bit about the kidnapper. Damien thinks he is doing good deeds. He sees it as making his "father" happy. Throughout he sees people who are in despair and tries to help them, but goes about it the wrong way. For example, he meets a girl who is mourning the lose of her father, and wants to be with him again. To "help" her see her father, Damien murders the girl so they can reunite in death (Dark huh?). As this "super hero" he takes on the only name that describes himself, Stockholm. He later meets an equally disturbed friend, who wants to help Damien carry out his goal of making people happy. He takes on the name Echo.

It's a little dark but I hope you like! Sample script up soonish?

Promotional Work: Our First Artist Alley

I'd like to introduce the first page of the web-comic, "Promotional Work".

Promotional work is about a group of students (Us) trying to get a foot in the door of the comic industry and the wacky shenanigans that are included. The characters consist of Me and my other fellow monocles and the stories, Believe it or not, are based off of actual events that happen to us. You'd be surprised at all the things that can happen during conventions, road trips or just everyday life.

I'll try to do them as often as I can but there is no update schedule.

Addie Babbles On

Addie here! My first blog post to the monocle blog! Hooray!

I am rather notorious for NOT updating my DA account and blogs. I resolve to make a change.

My outflow of artwork has not been great lately, due to the worst semester of art school I have ever had. Oh well and c'est la vie.

The main comics I am working on is BANE and Symphony. I will also be starting some heavy duty production on a mini comic that will grace the pages of Monocle Comics' first issue. If I can figure out what it's going to be about.

BANE is a comic I have had in my mind since highschool. I have refined it over time and am now producing it. Here you see page 1. I currently have 6 pages, however, most of those are going to be re-toned.

Symphony is going to rock, all thanks to David who helped make my idea come to life. That's another thing on my to-do list, concept art for Symphony.

I would put up more of BANE for your viewing pleasure, but I'm having some issues with the files at the moment.

I promise to keep updating! Next time I plan on putting up character designs for my upcoming 3 comics.

The Flower Girl wip

Here is the first page of a mini 3 page comic I am working on. Its based on the song: The Rain, The Park and other things by the Cowsills (The song from that dream scene in Dumb and Dumber). If you don't know the song is about a man who see a girl standing in the rain and he decided to talk to her. Each page is going to be based off of a verse in the song. I wanted to use a park for the background so I used reference pics that I took of Yoyogi park in Tokyo. I hope to be done with it by the weekend but that all depends on how much I feel like putting off my school work :P Can't wait to color.

Atlanta Comic Convention

So we went to the Atlanta Comic Convention today and showed off some of our stuff. It was pretty fun and we got a lot of good feedback, and met a lot of really cool people. Oh, and of course we bought a lot of stuff. So, yeah so far so good for Monocle Comics.

Messenger: Some Concept art!

Here is some concept art for my messenger story!!

The first one is of my main Character "Garag".

The Second is of one of

my other main characters "Kobu"

And the third is Serras and then a sketch of Garag sitting on a abandoned building.

Its all still a work in progress but I'm really liking the story I got so far.

The story takes place after the World basically started over, BUT thats all you get for now!!!

I'll write more later but for Now I have to write a 10 page paper about Bernini' statue of David, FUN STUFF!

Well, Well, I am beginning to feel a little left out!!

Yo, I be Brian (Bad Grammar intended) and I am an illustrator. I've been drawing since I can remember, honestly. I am a student at Kennesaw State University and I am a Visual arts major. For the longest time I was focusing on Graphic design but I recently realized that I wanted to be a comic illustrator so here I am!!!

As for me I have been planning a few stories to dish out but the main one for now is called "Messenger".

I got a lot of stuff to bring to the table and I hope you guys (whomever may be reading) keep an eye on us.
